A courageous couple enlisted the help of Hair by Phillip Award Winning Hair to have their heads shaved together to raise thousands of pounds for Macmillan.

The brave duo Lindsey Mooney and her husband Paul decided to carry out the Brave Shave after Lindsey’s battle with cancer in 2014.

Lindsey said: “Getting a cancer diagnosis is like being hit in the face with a hammer. I got my diagnosis 2 years ago and had my left Kidney removed. I was lucky my treatment didn’t lead to hair loss but I know those who have had to cope with that as well.”

Lindsey, who lives in Stotfold says she had total support from her Macmillan nurse and the helpline during her treatment and felt she wanted to give something back. Once word had spread about this inspiring brave shave, the donations came flooding in.

She said: “The money has come in from friends, family, colleagues, as well as the staff and clients of Hair by Phillip. My original target was £500 but it looks like we’ll come in at over £2000 which is absolutely unbelievable”

Lindsey and Paul knew there was only one person they wanted to carry out the brave shave; personal friend Phillip Parkin who is celebrating 50 years in hairdressing next year. Phillip was delighted to offer his support.

He said: "When Lindsey and Paul said they wanted to do this, I was inspired. We had a fantastic support on the day, and I’m honoured I was part of them raising such a phenomenal amount of money for this fantastic cause”

The money raised by Lindsey and Paul will go to Macmillan Cancer Support who help with the emotional and physical impact for people with cancer, as well as their families.
